Guerra & Partners Attorneys Provide Pro Bono Representation To Civil Rights Plaintiff

Earlier this year, Guerra & Partners attorneys volunteered to assist an inmate pro bono on a 42 U.S. Code § 1983 matter that survived summary judgment and would soon be scheduled for trial.  The plaintiff had suffered long lasting physical and mental health injuries as a result of a sexual solicitation and physical assault while incarcerated. Guerra & Partners attorneys Chemere Ellis, and Ailen Cruz (the “Guerra & Partners team”) volunteered to represent the plaintiff.

The Guerra & Partners team successfully dealt with various complex discovery issues, including petitioning the Court to reopen discovery and seeking remedies for the spoliation of crucial evidence. The Guerra & Partners team then participated in a settlement conference before a Magistrate Judge and settled the matter for their client. Guerra & Partners is very proud of this result and supports its attorneys’ pro bono efforts.
