Guerra & Partners Proud Sponsor Of The Innocence Project Of Florida’s Stand Up For Innocence Event In Tampa
Guerra & Partners was a proud sponsor for the second year in a row of Stand up for Innocence, a comedy show to benefit the Innocence Project of Florida. The event, held on February 8th at historic Friday Morning Musicale in Tampa, helped raise critical funding for the Innocence Project’s litigation efforts on behalf of the wrongfully convicted. The annual event involved a reception and comedy show from three top national comedians.
The mission of the Innocence Project of Florida (IPF) is to advocate for the exoneration of innocent persons in Florida’s prisons who have been wrongfully convicted and to advocate for necessary criminal justice reform to avoid wrongful incarceration in the future. Since the Innocence Project’s inception in 2003, 20 persons have been freed from Florida’s prisons, primarily through DNA evidence which proved their actual innocence. Those individuals collectively served over 430 years in prison. The Innocence Project is funded solely through grants and contributions.
